Individual and community events are organized across the country by people like you in support of the mission of Autism Speaks to fund research, increase awareness, and provide outreach and education. Constituents organize bowl-a-thons, car washes, golf tournaments and concerts, office fundraisers, sell items to raise funds in their neighborhood and participate in triathlons, runs, walks and more in support of Autism Speaks. All efforts, great and small, help support the efforts of Autism Speaks. Autism Speaks provides you with the tools to promote and support your efforts online.
How to Participate
If you would like to host an event or raise funds for Autism Speaks while participating in another event and would like to have a page for your event, please contact Shawna Weinheimer, Field Communications Manager, at walks@autismspeaks.org.
If you are participating in an event for which a group or team has already been created, please create a fundraising team of your own or join the GiveNow effort as an individual. When you do this:
Be sure to place yourself within the Group that applies to your event.
For example, if you are fundraising for a chapter fundraiser, be sure to name “Alpha Xi Delta,” your location, and your event. It might look like “Alpha Xi Delta – University of Toledo: Lip-Synching Contest.” You can solicit people to support you by giving them a direct link to your personal page.
